Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the ultimate source of all emanations. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that according to the Vedānta-sūtra, the Absolute Truth is defined precisely as the origin from which everything emanates (janmādy asya yataḥ). Because Bhagavān is the source of all spiritual and material energies, He is also the origin of the impersonal Brahman effulgence and the localized Paramātmā. The Lord is the supreme generating source for all living entities, opulences, and transcendental truths. Recognizing that all universes, material modes, and living beings emanate from this single supreme source frees the conditioned soul from material illusion. Ultimately, the Supreme Lord is the source of all pleasing humors and transcendental bliss for His pure devotees, while appearing as a source of fear to those absorbed in duality.

  • The Absolute Definition: The Vedānta-sūtra confirms that the Absolute Person is the original source of everyone's birth and all cosmic creation, known as janmādy asya yataḥ.
  • The Source of the Living Entities: Just as the vast earth is the source of all clay pots, the Supreme Soul is the original source and resting place of all individual living entities.
  • The Source of All Energies: God is the complete whole; nothing is independent of Him. He is the supreme consciousness from which all material and spiritual potencies emanate.
  • The Source of Bliss and Opulence: For the nondevotees, the Lord may appear as a source of fear, but for the pure devotees, He is the supreme source of all wealth, intelligence, and transcendental bliss.
