Category:God Is The Supreme Absolute Truth

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the Supreme Absolute Truth (satyaṁ param), the complete whole from whom everything emanates and into whom everything rests. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Absolute Truth is realized in three features, but the realization of the impersonal Brahman or localized Paramātmā remains incomplete without understanding the Supreme Person, Bhagavān. He refutes the Māyāvādī (impersonalist) philosophy, which claims that the Absolute Truth is formless, energy-less, and subject to illusion. The Vedic literatures, including the Vedānta-sūtra and Upaniṣads, confirm that the Supreme Absolute Truth possesses inconceivable, unlimited energies. Through these energies, the Lord creates the cosmic manifestation and maintains the innumerable living entities (who are minute sparks of His blazing fire) while remaining completely unchanged and independent. The perfection of human life is to abandon mental speculation and surrender to the transcendental loving service of this Supreme Absolute Truth.

  • The Complete Whole: The Supreme Absolute Truth is not a formless void. He is the complete Personality of Godhead, Lord Nārāyaṇa or Kṛṣṇa, possessing eternal form, qualities, and transcendental pastimes.
  • The Source of Emanation: As confirmed by the Vedānta-sūtra (janmādy asya yataḥ), the Supreme Absolute Truth is the source from which the entire cosmic manifestation and all living entities are born.
  • Inconceivable Energies: The Absolute Truth possesses multiple energies. He can expand into the material universe and countless living entities as by-products of His energy, yet He remains completely unchanged and unaffected.
  • Refuting Impersonalism: The idea that the Absolute Truth is exclusively impersonal, or that the living entities are equal to God, is a misunderstanding born of a poor fund of knowledge and speculative philosophy.
