- The jnanis, by culture of brahma-vidya, spiritual knowledge, struggle very hard to get out of the clutches of material nature, but a devotee, by dint of his advancement in devotional service, automatically becomes detached from his material body
- The kings said, "We are no longer interested in sense gratification derived through the material body. By Your grace, we have now come to the conclusion that hankering after such material happiness is just like searching for water in a desert mirage"
- The krpana, having a wrong estimation of his material body, wants to enjoy sense gratification with his utmost strength, and even in old age he wants to become a young man by medical treatment or otherwise
- The krpana, or the miserly man, has no estimation of his material body, but the brahmana has a true estimation of himself and the material body
- The Krsna consciousness movement is so beneficial that it can very easily counteract the contamination of material nature, which results from one's possessing a material body
- The living being in the conditioned state of material existence is subjected to many transmigrations by continuous changing of the material body. But what are the causes of the material embodiment of the part and parcel of the Lord?
- The living being, unable to control the rulings of God, is forced to associate with the prostitute of polluted intelligence and accept various material bodies
- The living entities are conditioned in contact with material bodies because of the actions of the Supreme Lord's external energy
- The living entities are not without spiritual senses; every living being in his original, spiritual form has all the senses, which are now materially manifested, being covered by the material body and mind
- The living entities change their material bodies in different shapes and forms under the influence of the different modes of nature, but in the transcendental state the devotee is guna-tita, or above the material modes of goodness, passion and ignorance
- The living entities who are conditioned in the material world are manifested in the creation in terms of respective inclinations inherent in them, and the requisite material body is offered to each and every one of them by the material energy
- The living entities who are promoted to the spiritual world do not return to the prison house of a material body (tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti so'rjuna) - BG 4.9
- The living entities, although parts and parcels of Lord Krsna, are prone to be controlled by the external energy; therefore, although they are spiritual, in the material world they are encased in bodies of material energy
- The living entities, who are struggling in this world with the mind and five senses, have their material bodies which are changing as long as the living entities are conditioned. BG 1972 purports
- The living entity - whatever his condition - does not want to give up the body. But he will be forced to give it up because, after all, this material body cannot exist forever
- The living entity accepts the material body, which is made of five elements, as himself. With this misunderstanding, he accepts nonpermanent things as his own and increases his ignorance in the darkest region
- The living entity comes in contact with his material bodies, whether high or low, and later gives them up by his personal prowess. This strength can be perceived in a living entity's personal power to possess different types of bodies
- The living entity conclude that as long as one has a material body consisting of material senses, one should enjoy the senses as much as possible
- The living entity enjoys the material body, which appears and disappears, but the five elements earth, water, fire, air and ether remain the same
- The living entity gets what he deserves and is carried by the material body which is created in the material energy under the direction of the Supersoul. BG 1972 purports
- The living entity has no true relationship with the material body he gets from his material father and mother. He is part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, but he is allowed to go through different bodies
- The living entity is a spiritual soul, and the material body is his encagement. This is the beginning of spiritual understanding
- The living entity is the eternal servant of Krsna. Being part and parcel of the Lord, he is constitutionally pure, but due to his contact with material energy, he identifies himself with either the gross or the subtle material body
- The living entity is unborn and eternal, and as confirmed in the Bhagavad-gītā (BG 2.30), and is not exhausted even though the material elementary body is vanquished
- The living entity who wants to taste stool is given a material body that is quite suitable for eating stool - that of a hog
- The living entity, who has received his present body because of his past fruitive activity, may end the results of his actions in this life, but this does not mean that he is liberated from bondage to material bodies
- The Lord cited a verse from SB 2.7.42: One who thinks this material body to be himself cannot receive the causeless mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- The Lord does not have a material body, yet He descends among human beings in His transcendental body as an incarnation. Therefore it is very difficult for us to understand who is an incarnation
- The Lord is described as amrta, or deathless, because He has no material body. Under the circumstances, the Lord's dying or quitting His body is like the jugglery of a magician
- The Lord says, na mam karmani limpanti: (BG 4.14) He is not affected by anything He does, because He is never contaminated by the material modes of nature. That we have a material body proves that we are infected by the three material modes of nature
- The Lord was so pleased with Bhattacarya that He began to bless him repeatedly: From today you are freed from the contamination of this material body and the entanglement of material energy. You are now fit to go back to Godhead, back home
- The Lord's appearance or birth is not like that of an ordinary man, who is forced to accept a material body according to his past deeds. The Lord's appearance is explained in the previous chapter (SB 10.2). He appears out of His own sweet pleasure
- The material bodies of all living entities cannot exist unless sheltered by the spirit soul and the Supersoul
- The material bodily conception is so polluted that even upon slight provocation all our relationships of love and affection are nullified
- The material body and mind are bad bargains for the spiritual living entity. The living entity has actual functions in the living, spiritual world, but this material world is dead
- The material body certainly consists only of material elements, but when one awakens to Krsna conscious understanding, the body is no longer material but spiritual
- The material body has no factual existence in relation to the eternal soul. It is something like a dream. In a dream we may think of flying in the sky or sitting on a chariot as a king
- The material body is a combination of earth, water, fire, air and ether. There is already fire within the body, and our practical experience is that the heat of this fire sometimes increases and sometimes decreases
- The material body is a gift of the material energy, technically called illusion
- The material body is a gift of the material energy, technically called illusion. Identification with the material body is due to forgetfulness of our eternal relationship with the Lord
- The material body is always afflicted with the lack of these (eternity, freedom from material modes, and freedom from reactions of fruitive activities) three qualities
- The material body is but a combination of such atoms, but it is misunderstood by the common man
- The material body is called dvitiya, or "the second." One who is absorbed in this second element or second exhibition of the spirit is afraid of death
- The material body is completely separate from the spirit soul, and the pains and pleasures of the body are superfluous
- The material body is composed of five gross elements - earth, water, fire, air and ether - and three subtle elements - mind, intelligence and ego
- The material body is destructible, and as such it is changeable and temporary. So is the material world. But the antimaterial living force is nondestructible, and therefore it is permanent
- The material body is influenced by the three modes of material nature, namely goodness, passion and ignorance
- The material body is just a covering of the spiritual soul. Mind and intelligence are the undercoverings, and the gross body of earth, water, air & so on is the overcoating of the soul
- The material body is just a covering of the spiritual soul. Mind and intelligence are the undercoverings, and the gross body of earth, water, air, etc., is the overcoating of the soul
- The material body is meant for sense enjoyment, whereas the spiritual body engages in the transcendental loving service of the Lord
- The material body is overcast with five kinds of miserable conditions, namely ignorance, material conception, attachment, hatred and absorption
- The material body is perishable by nature. It may perish immediately, or it may do so after a hundred years. It is a question of time only. There is no chance of maintaining it indefinitely. BG 1972 purports
- The material body is symptomized by birth, death, old age and diseases, but the spiritual body is conspicuous by the absence of those symptoms
- The material body is the symbol of the gross and subtle form of forgetfulness; therefore the whole atmosphere of the material world is called avidya, or nescience, whereas the whole atmosphere of the spiritual world is called vidya, or full of knowledge
- The material body itself indicates that the living entity is already influenced by the three modes of material nature & that he is driven to enjoy material resources. When the body is influenced by the mode of ignorance, its infection becomes very acute
- The material body of the living entity is a result of the conditioned soul's activities, and because the supporter is the Supersoul, the Supersoul is the true reality. Every one of us, therefore, should offer respectful obeisances to this central reality
- The material body requires replacement of matter for the wearing and tearing of the mechanical body. Therefore the distinction between the individual living entity and controlling planetary deities is in the anna-rasamaya body
- The material body, even if possessed by a great king, is ultimately transformed into stool, worms or ashes. When one is too attached to the bodily conception of life, he is certainly not very intelligent
- The material body, made up of material ingredients such as earth, water, fire, and air, is mortal
- The material body, made up of material ingredients such as earth, water, fire, and air, is mortal. Similarly, because this material universe is an amalgam of earth, water, fire, air, etc., it is also transitory
- The material body, whether in the higher or lower planetary system, is destined to die
- The material body, which is a result of the living being's actions is his field of activities & it gives him false designations. Since time immemorial, he has received various types of material bodies, which are the roots of bondage to the material world
- The material body, which is subject to birth and death, diseases and old age, is the cause of all sufferings of the living being, otherwise the living being is eternal; he is never born, nor does he ever die
- The material cause of the material elements absorbs the material body, and the spiritual soul assumes its original position
- The material conditional bodies develop out of the living entities' forgetfulness of their relationship with Godhead
- The material nature will go on changing, and because your material body is susceptible to all the influence of such changes, you will feel pains and pleasure. No pleasure; always pain
- The material world is the world where swans have become crows. In the material world the living entity is encaged in a material body, and he tries to gratify his senses in one body after another
- The materialist is always busy working for the welfare of the material body, not only of his own but also that of his children, kinsmen, countrymen, community men, etc
- The materialistic world, based on the conception of the material body as the self, is ignorant of the science of God. The materialist is busy working for the welfare of the body, not only his own but also those of his children, kinsmen and communitymen
- The materialists have many branches of philanthropic and altruistic activities from a political, (inter)national angle of vision, but none of the field work can go beyond the jurisdiction of the misconception of identifying the body with the spirit soul
- The meaningful appearance of the Lord is always distinct from ordinary birth. Even the pure devotees have no connection with the material body, & certainly God, who appears as He is, in His sac-cid-ananda (Bs. 5.1) form, is not limited by a material form
- The mercantile community, the royal order and great sages were free to move about in order to achieve their desired benedictions. Similarly, the transcendentalists, when freed from the encagement of the material body, also achieve their desired goal
- The merging of the soul means that after separating himself from the material body the individual soul engages himself in devotional service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His eternal form
- The messenger said, "The material body is awarded to us by the modes of material nature, and on account of this we are full of anxieties. The material condition of life simply involves bearing the burden of this dead body"
- The mind brings about birth in different types of bodies among demigods, human beings, animals and birds. When the mind is situated in a higher or lower position, it accepts a higher or lower material body
- The mind is material, just like the material body, but when the material coverings are taken away, as we revive our spiritual body, similarly we revive our spiritual mind
- The mind is the cause of both material bondage and liberation. The impure mind thinks, "I am this body." The pure mind knows that he is not the material body; therefore the mind is considered to be the root of all material designations
- The mind, is the cause of all tribulations in the material world. As long as this fact is unknown to the conditioned living entity, he has to accept the miserable condition of the material body and wander within this universe in different positions
- The minute particle of the whole spirit acquires this material body according to his work, and therefore observance of religious principles should be utilized. BG 1972 purports
- The miserable condition of material existence is not only felt when we come out of the womb of the mother, but is also present within the womb. Miserable life begins from the moment the living entity begins to contact his material body
- The most dangerous theory of the impersonalists is that when God comes as an incarnation He accepts a material body created by the three modes of material nature. This Mayavada theory has been condemned by Lord Caitanya as most offensive
- The most foolish part of our ignorance is our identifying this material body with the self. Everything in relation with the body is ignorantly accepted as our own
- The most important ceremony for sense gratification is marriage because sexual intercourse is one of the principal necessities of the material body. Yan maithunadi-grhamedhi-sukham hi tuccham - SB 7.9.45
- The mother supplies this body. So our this body is material; therefore it is the gift of the material mother, material nature. But I, the spirit soul, that I am part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, Krsna
- The name tamasi does not indicate that He has a material body. He is always transcendental, but because He is the Supersoul of Lord Siva, who must perform tamasic activities, Sankarsana is sometimes called tamasi
- The natural hankering of the minute spirit spark is for the qualities of the whole - knowledge, bliss, and eternality - but these hankerings are being frustrated due to the material body. The information on how to attain the soul's desire is given in BG
- The nine gates (of material body) are described as follows: nava-dvare pure dehi hamso lelayate bahih, vasi sarvasya lokasya sthavarasya carasya ca. BG 1972 purports
- The only auspicious activities are those which lead one to liberation. Any activity which is not aimed at ultimate self-realization or liberation from the material bodily concept of life is not at all auspicious. BG 1972 purports
- The parts of the body, such as the senses, are the creation of the mahat-tattva, and when they are assembled by the will of the Lord, the material body comes into existence, and the living entity is allowed to use it for further activities
- The people in general are extremely busy in the affairs of the material body and mind. Those who are in the lowest stage of such mundane activities very rarely can understand the activities of the spiritual plane
- The perfect yogis or mystics can leave the material body at their own sweet will at a suitable time and go to a suitable planet desired by them
- The perfected living being, by developing seventy-eight percent of the above attributes in fullness, can enter the planet of Krsnaloka after leaving the present material body
- The perfectly realized soul has no conception of how the material body is moving or acting, just as an intoxicated person cannot understand whether or not he has clothing on his body, because he has achieved his real identity
- The person in knowledge, he must see that, I cannot avoid death, I cannot avoid birth, I cannot avoid old age, I cannot avoid disease so long I have got this material body
- The person in the second class not only thinks his material body to be his self, but also commits all kinds of sinful activities to maintain his body
- The Personality of Godhead and the personalities of devotees of the Lord are all transcendental; they do not have material bodies
- The Personality of Godhead, who appears in the mind of the devotee by attentive devotion and meditation and by chanting of the holy name, releases the devotee from the bondage of fruitive activities at the time of his quitting the material body
- The physical nature is constantly changing. Material bodies generally pass through six stages: they are born, they grow, they remain for some duration, they produce some by-products, they dwindle, and then they vanish. BG 1972 purports
- The process is to give up one material body and then enter into another. But the highest perfection of such changes occurs only when the living entity is able to give up the material body altogether, and enter into the spiritual atmosphere
- The process of bodily self-consciousness - the misunderstanding that I am this material body and mind and, for that matter, that I am part and parcel of this material world and that everything in this material world is thus an object for my enjoyment
- The process of yoga is very clearly described in this verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 3.19.28). It is said here that the ultimate end of the yogis and mystics who perform meditation is to get rid of this material body
- The real knowledge begins when we understand that we are not this body, material body. I am different from body
- The real mission of human life is to get free from encagement in the material body. Therefore Krsna descends to teach the conditioned soul about spiritual realization and how to become free from material bondage
- The result of perfection in Krsna consciousness is that after giving up one's material body, one is immediately transferred to the spiritual world in one's original spiritual body to become an associate of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- The saintly devotees are always free and liberated, whereas the karmis, who have no knowledge of spiritual life or the transcendental loving service of the Lord, are very much afraid of giving up the rotten material body
- The saints & sages of Bharata-varsa, as India has long been known, never tried to cultivate or satisfy artificially the needs of the body & the mind exclusively; they always cultured the transcendental spirit soul, which is above the material body & mind
- The Sanskrit statement anartha-nivrtti indicates that this body is unwanted. We are spirit soul, and there was never any need of this material body
- The Sanskrit word dehi means embodied. Although one is within this material body, by his advancement in spiritual knowledge he can be free from the influence of the modes of nature. BG 1972 purports
- The sastras advise that a living entity should accept only those sense-enjoyable objects necessary for the upkeep of the material body and reject those that are just for sense gratification. In this way he will reduce the tendency for sense enjoyment
- The sense is there, but if it is artificially covered, then even the facility is there, I cannot enjoy the sense perfectly. Similarly, we have got our senses, but our senses are now covered by this material body
- The signs pointed out by Vidura in the body of Dhrtarastra were signs of apaksaya, or dwindling of the material body before the last stroke of death. The body is born, it develops, stays, creates other bodies, dwindles and then vanishes
- The situation is that we are actually seeking eternal knowledge, but this cannot be acquired by this material body. We are all seeking enjoyment through these bodies, but bodily enjoyment is not our actual enjoyment. It is artificial
- The soul is called dehi, or one who possesses the body, and the material body is called deha, or the embodiment of the soul. The body is changing at every moment, but the soul is fixed; therefore the soul is called kuta-stham
- The soul, although subjecting himself to the conditions of the body, can be beyond those conditions, if he so desires. Owing only to forgetfulness of his superior nature, he identifies with the material body, and therefore suffers. BG 1972 purports
- The soul, however, does not go through such changes (the six kinds of transformations the body is subjected to). The soul is not born, but, because he takes on a material body, the body takes its birth. BG 1972 purports
- The SPG, Hari, is the soul and the Supersoul of all living entities. Every living entity is a manifestation of His energy in terms of the living soul and the material body. Therefore the Lord is the most dear, and He is the supreme controller
- The spirit is never annihilated, nor can anyone annihilate him, even after the annihilation of the material body. He therefore has no birth and no death. Nor does he grow or diminish by repeated material births and deaths
- The spirit soul is always apart from the material body. There is no change in the spiritual form of the living entity. Any person above the bodily conception of life is pure and can receive transcendental knowledge
- The spirit soul, when he is fully liberated from material contamination or designation, he no longer transmigrates to another material body after death. He is transferred to the spiritual world for eternal residence in one of the spiritual planets
- The spiritual being, the part and parcel of Krsna, God, accepts a material body by virtue of his own desires. Accepting two hands, two legs, and so on, the living entity fully enjoys the modes of material nature
- The spiritual body is within the material body. The material body is changing, going through childhood, youth, then old age, and then it vanishes
- The spiritual entity is ever fresh and new, although he is the oldest of all. He is always different from the material body and mind, which are always subject to death and annihilation
- The spiritual master, or acarya - he can give up his conditional life in a material body and return home, back to Godhead. However, if he wants to keep himself in the darkness of this material world, he can do so
- The stage attained by Bhismadeva while quitting his material body is called nirvikalpa-samadhi because he merged his self into thinking of the Lord and his mind into remembering His different activities
- The subtle mental body, which is also material and composed of false ego and intelligence, likewise vanishes when the soul is liberated
- The sum total of suffering is birth, death, old age and disease. This is due to this body. Therefore the problem is how to stop this material body, repetition
- The sun-god is also known as Vairaja, the total material body for all living entities. Because he entered this dull egg of the universe at the time of creation, he is also called Martanda
- The Supersoul and the individual soul are like two birds sitting on the same tree (the material body). One bird, the individual, forgetful bird, is eating the fruit of the tree, not caring for the instructions of the other bird
- The Supersoul and the individual soul are like two birds sitting on the same tree (the material body). The Supersoul is only a witness to the activities of the first bird, who is his friend
- The Supersoul, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, has no material body, and because He has no material body, He is not affected by any work He executes
- The Supreme Lord (atma), the creator of cause and effect, does not accept the happiness & distress that result from fruitive actions. He is completely independent of having to accept a material body & because He has no material body, He is always neutral
- The Supreme Lord enters the material cosmos and causes creation, maintenance and destruction in their due course, whereas the part-and-parcel living entity enters the material elements and has his material body created for him
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is omnipotent and omniscient. Therefore, because a material body can be neither omnipotent nor omniscient, the Lord’s body is surely not material
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead is pure and detached. Due to being covered by the material body, the living entities are not self-effulgent, but the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Paramatma, is self-effulgent
- The temporary appearance and disappearance of such material interactions (heat and cold, happiness and distress) confirms that the material body is formed of a material energy inferior to the living force, or jiva energy
- The temporary material body is certainly a foreign dress. The Bhagavad-gita (2.20) clearly says that after the destruction of the material body the living entity is not annihilated, nor does he lose his identity
- The transcendental work of the karma-yogi surpasses the mundane limits of the material body and mind, because it is performed in relation with the transcendental spirit soul
- The transcendentalist, knowing himself to be different from the material body and mind, always tries to cultivate transcendental activities
- The ultimate purpose of Veda is to understand Krsna. - Vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyam (BG 15.15). So Krsna or the sadhu and sastra does not stop your material activities. Because you have to act materially so long you have got this material body
- The uttama-adhikari sees the spirit soul within the material body and serves him as spirit. Thus the material aspect is automatically served
- The Vedas enjoin: "Don't remain in the darkness of this material world. Go to the light of the spiritual world." To counteract the distress of this material body, one has to take on another distressed condition. Both situations are only illusion
- The Vedic wisdom encourages self-realization on the basis of the nonexistence of the material body. BG 1972 purports
- The Vedic wisdom encourages self-realization on the basis of the nonexistence of the material body. in either case, whether one believes in the existence of the soul or one does not believe in the existence of the soul, there is no cause for lamentation
- The water is the same, but due to seasonal changes, sometimes the water is very pleasing and sometimes it is very painful. So long we shall remain in the material world, the pains and pleasure on account of this material body we have to feel
- The whole aim is liberation. We are conditioned by this material nature. We have got this material body. Therefore our aim should be how to become liberated from this contamination, accepting birth after birth, material body
- The whole direction of the Vedic injunction is to understand that "I am not this material body; I am spirit soul." And in order to understand this factual position, there are so many directions in the dharma-sastra, or religious scriptures
- The whole world is turning in accordance with that competitive mood. But this kind of name and fame is temporary, for it lasts only as long as the temporary material body exists
- The word akincana means "one who has lost all material possessions." As long as we have even the slightest tinge of an idea of becoming happy materially in some way or other, we shall have to accept a material body
- The word avyayatma in the above verse from the Bhagavad-gita (4.6) clearly indicates that the Lord's body is not made of material elements. He is all spirit. Birth and death apply only to the material body
- The word durasayat is very significant. Dur refers to trouble or duhkha, miseries. Asayat means "from the shelter." We conditioned souls have taken shelter of the material body, which is full of troubles and miseries
- The word sattvaya indicates that the form of the Lord is not material. It is sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah. Isvarah paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah (BS 5.1). His body is different from our material bodies
- The word suksmaya is significant because within this gross material body there are subtle material bodies - namely mind, intelligence and ego
- The word tattvatah, meaning "in reality," is very important. Tato mam tattvato jnatva. Unless one understands Krsna in truth by the mercy of the spiritual master, one is not free to give up his material body
- The word yoga means "connection," and atma means "soul" and sometimes "mind" or "body." The material body has nothing to do with the Supreme Being because the Supreme Being is completely spiritual. He has no material covering
- The words itihasam ("history") and puratanam ("old") indicate that although a living entity lives within the material body, the history of the living entity within the material body is very old
- The words lingad vinirgame, which are used here (in SB 3.27.28-29), mean "after being freed from the two kinds of material bodies, subtle and gross
- The world or the cosmic creation is not false, as maintained by the Mayavada school. It simply has no permanent existence. A nonpermanent thing cannot be called false altogether. But the conception that the material body is the self is certainly wrong
- The wrong conception of the jivatma is to identify the material body with the pure soul, and the wrong conception of Paramatma is to think Him on an equal level with the living entity
- Their (the materialists') goal in life is to make the material body comfortable, but they forget the interest of the spirit soul
- Then (when absorbed in thoughts of rendering loving service to the Lord) it will be possible to remain separate from the activities of the material body. This position of neutrality can be possible only for a devotee
- There are 8,400,000 types or forms of this material body, and we are wandering, sarva-gata, in different planets, in different forms. This is material world
- There are many nice things offered to Krsna - garlands, bedsteads, nice ornaments, nice food and even nicely prepared pan, betel nuts - but a humble Vaisnava, thinking his body material and nasty, does not accept such preparations for himself
- There are many sannyasis in India who stress the importance of the body. Some of them give special importance to the body of the poor man, accepting him as daridra-narayana, as if Narayana had a material body
- There are three kinds of miserable condition - everyone, not for a particular person - adhyatmika, adhibhautika, adhidaivika. And as soon as you get this material body, you will have to suffer
- There are two ways, if you like you can become free from this bondage of material body. And if you don't like, you can continue your material way of life, changing different material body
- There are two words, vani and vapuh. Vani means words, and vapuh means this physical body. So vani is more important than the vapuh. Vapuh will be finished. This is material body. It will be finished. That is the nature
- There is a distinction between the body and the soul of the materially existing living being, but because Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Jagannatha do not possess material bodies, there is no distinction between Their bodies and souls
- There is no cause of lamentation because the living entity can neither be killed as he is, nor can the material body, which cannot be saved for any length of time, be permanently protected. BG 1972 purports
- There is no meaning to the relationship of the pure soul in pure consciousness with the material body
- There is no need of becoming father unless you train up your child to accept no more this material body
- There is no possibility of maintaining the body permanently or eternally. Antavanta ime deha nityasyoktah saririnah. This is the statement of Bhagavad-gita (BG 2.18). The material body is antavat (perishable), but the soul within the body is eternal
- There is no question of ill treating of our own Godbrothers simply because they are sick, nor should you allow such neglect to go on. So long we have this material body there will be sickness
- There is no rebirth means there is no rebirth for possessing a material body. Because a spirit soul has neither birth nor death
- There is nothing to be lamented in the case of the soul's being transferred into another body, or the material body's perishing at a certain stage
- There is spiritual division also, because we are combination of matter and spirit. I am the soul. I am living within this material body. This is actual position
- There was no need for Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to accept sannyasa, for He is God Himself and therefore has nothing to do with the material bodily concept of life
- These are symptoms of pure devotion (devotee prays to God that he not forget Him and that he always be able to engage in His transcendental service). Of course a devotee, wherever he is, remains in the spiritual kingdom, even while in this material body
- These desires (for sense gratification) are represented in the various species of life, from germs to the most perfected material bodies, those of Brahma and the demigods. All of these living entities have bodies composed of matter in different shapes
- These material bodies are perishable in due course of time (nityasyoktah saririnah) but that the soul is eternal, then we must remember always that the body is like a dress; therefore why lament the changing of a dress
- These modes of material nature belong to the material energy, and the living entities under these different modes of material nature have different kinds of material bodies
- These persons (who died in Mathura) had a slight breathing exhiliration, their eyes were wide open, the colors of their bodies were changed, and they began to utter the holy name of Krsna. In this condition they gave up their material bodies
- These things you will find in animal's body also - blood, muscles, flesh, bones, stool, urine, nails, hair, like that. So these are the ingredients of the material body
- These three verses (SB 4.26.1-3) explain how the material body of the living entity is under the control of the three qualities of the external energy
- They (demonic miscreants) think that the body of any human being is now simply covered by material nature and that as soon as one is liberated from this material body there is no difference between God and himself. BG 1972 purports
- They (devotees of God) will simply change their material bodies for spiritual bodies. Unlike the demons, they no longer have to change material bodies. The Lord, therefore, is simultaneously death and immortality
- They (less intelligent persons) do not know that no kind of material body anywhere within the universe can give life without miseries. BG 1972 purports
- They (men in the age of Kali) are less intelligent because they have no information of the eternity of life; they identify with the temporary material body existing for forty years and consider it the only basic principle of life
- They (the members of the Mayavada school) think that He is covered by a material body just like other living beings. Due to this offensive understanding, they cannot recognize that Sri Krsna's personal form is transcendental, not material
- They (the sahajiyas) believe that the material body, which is fit to be eaten by jackals and dogs, is enjoyable for Krsna. Consequently they artificially decorate the material body to attract Krsna, thinking themselves sakhis

- They are very much attached to this material body and anything in relationship with this body. But the real purpose of human life is to become renounced - no more material body. That is required
- They have no brain that this material body is klesada, is simply miserable. That they understood. So dull brain. That is tamo-guna. Tamo-guna means completely darkness. Just like animals
- They have nothing to do with the material body, and therefore they are always uncovered. With these transcendental qualities, one who is actually learned must give up the illusory conception of life
- They know that these (so-called happiness and distress) are like changing seasons, which are perceivable by contact with the material body
- They think, "I have got this material body, I have got some senses, let me enjoy the senses to the best possibility." But you cannot do it, because it is false, it is not real. Real senses, unless you feel sensation
- Thinking Nityananda Prabhu to be an ordinary human being is the business of mental speculators known as kunapatma-vadis. These people accept the material body, which is a bag of three material elements (kunape tri-dhatuke), as themselves
- This (if Arjuna does not kill that will make him happy) is material calculation, because he was giving more importance to the material body, what is his brother, what is his grandfather or teacher. He was seeing the material
- This (SB 7.7.18) is a very important verse in understanding the difference between the spiritual soul and the material body. The soul is eternal, as stated in Bhagavad-gita - BG 2.20
- This (worshiping themselves as God) is also a type of God worship, for they can understand that they are not the material body but are actually spiritual soul; at least, such a sense is prominent. BG 1972 purports

- This consciousness (of the material body) is inferior, destructible and perverted. But superconsciousness of the supramind in the spiritual plane is as good as the spirit soul and is never annihilated

- This gross material body made of five elements is already under the control of eternal time (kala), action (karma) and the modes of material nature (guna). How, then, can it, being already in the jaws of the serpent, protect others?

- This is another important verse: na mucyate deha-yogena tavat (SB 5.5.6) The problem is presented, deha-yogena. This body, contact with this material body, this is the problem. But nobody knows it. Especially in these days they cannot understand

- This material body, as well as the senses, the faculties of thinking, feeling and willing and the stages of distress, happiness, attachment and lust - all are different products of these three qualities of nature
- This material body, if it is shirt and coat, then this is cut according to the spiritual body. The spiritual body is not nirakara, without form

- This material world is important because I am identifying myself with this material body. Therefore it is important: 'Where I shall sit? Where shall I eat? Where shall I sleep? How shall I be protected?' - So many things
- This perception is possible only for one who is awakened to Krsna consciousness and who has become fully cognizant of the abominable nature of this material body

- We are now encumbered with this material body, and as soon as we become free from this material conception of life, that is called mukti. That is called brahma-bhuta
