In the material world, the living entity falsely identifies with the temporary body and becomes hopelessly entangled in a vast web of social, familial, and political connections. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that these worldly connections are rooted in ignorance and are the primary cause of continuous suffering in the cycle of birth and death. To achieve true spiritual liberation, one must cut off these illusory bodily attachments and reestablish their lost, eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This reconnection is the actual meaning of the word yoga. By dedicating one's life to the practice of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, a sincere devotee willingly sacrifices all mundane connections in exchange for the supreme, eternal association of the Lord and His pure devotees.

- Material nature in this connection is called Brahman because it is a perverted reflection of the spiritual nature

- The word moha means the false understanding that one is rich or poor. In this material world, the conception that one is very rich or very poor - or any such consciousness in connection with material existence - is false
- The word niyatena is very significant in this connection, for it indicates that one should execute the meditation practice as stated above - in SB 4.8.51
- The word paramesthinam is sometimes used in connection with Brahma. Paramesthi means "the supreme person." As Brahma is the supreme person within this universe, Krsna is the Supreme Personality in the spiritual world
