Category:Advaita Acarya As An Incarnation
Theme Analysis
Advaita Ācārya stands as the Lord Himself appearing in the role of a devotee to call the descent of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that Advaita Ācārya is an incarnation of Mahā-Viṣṇu, sometimes described as Sadāśiva avatāra, and belongs to īśvara-tattva, not śakti-tattva or jīva-tattva. His loud calling became the cause for Kṛṣṇa's incarnation, and by the devotional service of Advaita Ācārya and Haridāsa Ṭhākura, the Lord descended to preach the holy name and ecstatic love of Kṛṣṇa. He is called Advaita because He is nondifferent from Hari, and Ācārya because He propagates the cult of devotion. In the Pañca-tattva, He reveals the Lord's compassion through the form of a devotee who brings divine mercy to the whole world.
- Mahā-Viṣṇu in Devotee Form: Advaita Ācārya is directly identified as an incarnation of Mahā-Viṣṇu, whose function is connected with creation. Yet He appears as a devotee to teach and distribute devotional service.
- The Lord's Calling Through Devotion: His loud calling was the cause for Kṛṣṇa's incarnation as Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This shows the power of pure devotional appeal to bring the Lord's mercy into the world.
- Īśvara-Tattva, Not Jīva-Tattva: Advaita Ācārya is not an ordinary soul but īśvara-tattva, belonging to the category of the Lord. This distinguishes Him from śakti-tattva and jīva-tattva while still showing His devotional mood.
- The Ācārya Who Propagates Devotion: Because He propagates devotion, He is called Ācārya. His incarnation teaches that the Lord Himself accepts the role of devotee to spread love of Kṛṣṇa.
