Theme Analysis
In the Vedic science of mysticism, a successful practitioner can achieve the aṣṭa-siddhi, or the eightfold material perfections. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that aṇimā-siddhi is the specific yogic power that enables one to become smaller than an atom. In this minute state, a yogī can penetrate anything, even solid stone. Śrīla Prabhupāda gives the historical example of King Indra, who utilized this exact mystic power to enter the womb of Diti while she was fast asleep. Interestingly, Śrīla Prabhupāda points out that modern science mimics aṇimā-siddhi in a gross way by using technology to bore subways through solid mountains and hills.
Despite their miraculous appearance, these siddhis are entirely material. Because they offer immense power and influence, they are highly coveted by demons and materialistic yogīs. Asuras like Hiraṇyakaśipu performed severe austerities specifically to gain powers like aṇimā and laghimā (becoming lighter than the lightest) in order to become deathless and usurp control of the entire universe. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda warns that these powers are temporary and superficial. Often, upon attaining just one or two of these perfections, a mystic falls into the trap of mental oscillation and fails to achieve the ultimate goal of life.
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Viṣṇu, naturally possesses all mystic potencies, including aṇimā-siddhi, in infinite fullness. When Lord Brahmā witnessed the viṣṇu-mūrtis during Kṛṣṇa's childhood pastimes, he saw that they were surrounded by all opulences and mystic powers. Because the Supreme Lord is the master of all mysticism (Yogeśvara), His pure devotees automatically reject these minor material achievements. A pure devotee is fully dependent on Kṛṣṇa's mercy and finds no pleasure in the superficial magic of aṇimā-siddhi, preferring instead the eternal, blissful engagement of unalloyed devotional service.
- Defining Anima-siddhi: It is the mystic ability to become smaller than the smallest particle, allowing the yogī to enter any space, including solid stone.
- The Ambitions of Demons: Materialistic yogīs and demons like Hiraṇyakaśipu intensely endeavor for powers like aṇimā-siddhi to exploit and control the material universe.
- The Supreme Master of Mysticism: The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Viṣṇu, naturally and effortlessly possesses all mystic perfections in full.
- The Devotee's Rejection: Pure devotees view aṇimā-siddhi as a temporary, material distraction and completely reject it in favor of pure, unmotivated devotion to Kṛṣṇa.

- May that Supreme Personality of Godhead protect me at all times with His eight arms. He is all-powerful because He fully possesses the eight mystic powers (anima, laghima, etc.)
- Modern scientific improvements also enable us to enter into stone, because they provide for excavating so many subways, penetrating the hills, etc. So , the mystic perfection of trying to enter into stone, has also been achieved by material science

- Saubhari Rsi was a great yogi. Yogic perfection makes available eight material opulences - anima, laghima, mahima, prapti, prakamya, isitva, vasitva and kamavasayita
