Theme Analysis
Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the all-attractive source of everything. Yet, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains a beautiful transcendental paradox: the Unconquerable Lord is conquered and attracted by pure devotional service (bhakti-rasa). While the conditioned soul is easily distracted by the temporary glamour of the material energy, the Supreme Lord is drawn only to the sincerity and intense love of His devotees. Material qualifications such as aristocratic birth, mundane education, immense wealth, or artificial physical beauty hold absolutely no appeal for Him.
Śrīla Prabhupāda provides profound historical examples to illustrate this truth. The uneducated cowherd boys of Vṛndāvana attracted Kṛṣṇa simply through their spontaneous, intense friendship. Similarly, Kṛṣṇa was attracted to the hunchbacked woman in Mathurā strictly because of her sincere service, not her physical form. Furthermore, by adopting a mood of profound humility and meekness—thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street—a devotee naturally attracts the merciful attention of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Even the advent of the Lord can be invoked by devotion, as seen when Śrī Advaita Ācārya attracted Kṛṣṇa to descend through His loud, earnest cries.
The ultimate zenith of attracting the Lord is found in conjugal love, perfectly epitomized by Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī and the gopīs. Śrīla Prabhupāda describes that Rādhārāṇī is the supreme symbol of devotion, and Her transcendental qualities, affection, and artistic expressions fully captivate Kṛṣṇa's mind. Although sahajiyās mistakenly try to decorate their material bodies to attract the Lord, the pure devotees in the spiritual realm adorn themselves solely for Kṛṣṇa's pleasure. Amazingly, Kṛṣṇa's transcendental form is so wonderfully attractive that He even becomes attracted to His own beauty, wishing to experience the love of His own devotees.
- The Supreme Magnetism: Devotional service (bhakti-rasa) is the only force powerful enough to attract the attention of Kṛṣṇa, the all-attractive Supreme Lord.
- Sincerity over Opulence: Kṛṣṇa completely ignores artificial material grooming and mundane qualifications; He looks only for pure love and the sincere desire to serve.
- The Power of Humility: Approaching the Lord with genuine meekness, humility, and earnest prayers guarantees His compassionate attention.
- The Pinnacle of Devotion: Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī represents the absolute highest degree of devotional service, possessing the complete spiritual attractiveness required to captivate Kṛṣṇa's mind.
