Category:Cannot Comprehend

Theme Analysis

The category Cannot Comprehend shows the limits of finite intelligence before the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the living entity, being part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa, cannot fully comprehend Kṛṣṇa's greatness, opulences, expansions, energies, speech, or spiritual world by mental speculation or material calculation. Even exalted beings such as Brahmā, Bhīṣma, and the four Kumāras could not fully understand certain displays, arrangements, or intentions of the Lord. This limitation is not a defect in the Lord but a reminder that the Absolute Truth is inconceivable to the small brain of the conditioned soul. Therefore one must approach Vedic literature with faith, accept the Lord's inconceivable power, and give up the pride that tries to measure Kṛṣṇa by ordinary intelligence.

  • Limited Knowledge Cannot Measure Kṛṣṇa: The living entity cannot comprehend the greatness of Kṛṣṇa because the Lord contains and pervades everything while remaining beyond everything. Even millions of universes shown within His mouth cannot be measured by the calculations of the finite mind.
  • Inconceivable Energy Must Be Accepted: Spiritual progress requires acceptance of the Lord's inconceivable power and energy. Without acknowledging that Kṛṣṇa acts beyond the reach of ordinary reasoning, one cannot understand how everything is being done.
  • Even Great Souls Cannot Fully Grasp the Lord: Brahmā, Bhīṣma, and the four Kumāras were exalted personalities, yet they could not fully comprehend the Lord's display, arrangement, or speech. Their examples teach humility before divine mystery.
  • Speculation Cannot Reach the Absolute Truth: The Absolute Truth cannot be comprehended through speculative processes or impersonal assumptions. One must accept Bhagavad-gītā and Vedic literature in good faith to receive knowledge of the Lord.
