Theme Analysis
The category Giving to Caitanya illustrates the beautiful reciprocation between the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His loving devotees. Although Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is the self-satisfied Supreme Lord, He graciously accepts whatever is offered to Him with faith and devotion. Throughout His pastimes, we see devotees eagerly giving Him various offerings. They brought Him delicious food preparations, raw rice, and unspiced betel, all of which He accepted with great delight. Even simple items given with love, such as the dust from the site of the rāsa dance or hand-written books, were received by the Lord as invaluable treasures.
Furthermore, Lord Caitanya set the perfect example of humility and obedience by accepting what was given to Him by His superiors. To teach human society how to act, He submissively received educational lessons in His youth, and later, He strictly followed the order given by His spiritual master, Īśvara Purī, to constantly chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. He even accepted the personal servant given to Him by His guru, despite His initial hesitation based on traditional etiquette.
In His relationships with His mother, Śacīmātā, and His intimate friends, He humbly begged for their permission before traveling to places like Vṛndāvana. Rather than exercising His absolute authority, He preferred to be bound by their love, eagerly awaiting the permission they gave Him. Ultimately, whether it was accepting a place to stay from Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya or receiving the intense affection of His eternal associates, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu demonstrated that the Supreme Lord descends simply to exchange love, accept the service of His devotees, and give them unending spiritual happiness.
