Category:God's Assurance
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category highlights the absolute certainty and reliability of the Supreme Personality of Godhead's "assurances." Unlike the flickering promises of the material world or the temporary benedictions of the demigods, God's assurance is infallible; He never deviates from His word of honor. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the Lord offers specific, monumental assurances to those who surrender unto Him: assurance of protection from demonic forces (as given to Aditi and Bali Mahārāja), assurance of victory in spiritual battles (as given to Arjuna), and the ultimate assurance of returning back home, back to Godhead, never to return to the mortal world. The Lord even assures devotees like Dhruva Mahārāja that their pure devotional service will not be hindered by their past material desires. Because the Lord is the supreme controller, His promise to protect His devotees from the reactions of all sins (sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi) allows the sincere soul to sleep peacefully, completely free from the anxieties of material existence.
- The Infallible Promise: The Supreme Lord never breaks His word. When He gives an assurance of protection, that promise is executed under all circumstances, regardless of the demonic forces arranged against the devotee.
- Assurance of Protection: The Lord assures His pure devotees that they will never be vanquished. He protects them from the effects of bad association, sinful reactions, and even the partial dissolution of the universe.
- Assurance of Ultimate Liberation: The highest assurance given by the Lord, repeated throughout the Bhagavad-gītā, is that whoever fully surrenders and returns to His eternal abode will never have to reenter the mortal world of threefold miseries.
- Freedom from Anxiety: Because the Lord personally guarantees to dissipate the results of fruitive activities and protect His surrendered servants, devotees can perform their duties peacefully, without fear of falling down.
- Assuring the Demigods: The Lord's assurances also extend to cosmic management. He pacified the terrified demigods, assuring them that the intense austerities of Dhruva Mahārāja were not meant to annihilate the universe.
