Category:God's Company
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category addresses the fundamental purpose of the living entity's existence: to enjoy eternal, blissful association in the company of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Because the soul is a spark of the Supreme Fire, it can only experience true happiness when illuminated by the company of the Lord. The material world exists because the living entities misused their independence, desiring to leave the Lord's company to artificially lord it over material nature. Yet, out of supreme compassion, the Lord expands as the Paramātmā to keep company with the fallen soul even in the darkest material conditions. The ultimate goal of human life, achievable through pure devotional service, is to regain a spiritual body and return to Vaikuṇṭha or Goloka Vṛndāvana to enjoy the Lord's company eternally. In the spiritual world, the Lord's eternal associates—such as the goddess of fortune, the cowherd boys, and the gopīs—experience such profound ecstasy in His company that their desire to serve Him constantly increases. Even in the material world, a pure devotee never feels separated; by constantly glorifying the Lord and following His instructions, the devotee remains perpetually in His divine company.
- The Original Purpose: The living entities were created specifically to enjoy in the company of the Supreme Lord. Separation from Him, driven by the desire to become an imitation God, is the sole cause of material suffering.
- The Compassion of the Supersoul: Even when the soul falls down into the material world, the Supreme Lord does not abandon them. As the Paramātmā, He accompanies the soul everywhere, waiting patiently for them to turn back to Him.
- The Eternal Associates: In the spiritual sky, the Lord is constantly surrounded by liberated associates, including the goddess of fortune, who is so attached to His company that she cannot be peaceful without Him.
- Increasing Ecstasy: The transcendental bliss of associating with the Lord is dynamic. Pure devotees experience a loving propensity that becomes so ecstatic that even while directly enjoying His company, they feel their enjoyment is insufficient.
- Company Through Devotion: One does not need to wait for liberation to enjoy the Lord's company. By constantly thinking of Him, executing His orders, and engaging in congregational chanting, a pure devotee remains in the direct company of the Lord anywhere in the universe.
