Category:God's Decisions
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute authority and infallibility of the Supreme Personality of Godhead's decisions. The timeless adage "man proposes, God disposes" perfectly summarizes the living entity's relationship with the supreme controller. While a demoniac person may act according to his own whims, his ultimate destination and next birth are decided entirely by the Supreme Lord. The Lord's decisions are perfectly correct, unwavering, and cannot be stopped by anyone—a quality known as dṛḍha-saṅkalpa or dṛḍha-vrata. Furthermore, the Lord's decisions dictate the course of cosmic events and human history, such as His determination that the warriors at Kurukṣetra were predestined to die. Yet, the Lord's decisions are also deeply compassionate and responsive to His devotees. He decides to descend to teach the world, appearing as Lord Caitanya to distribute personal loving affairs, or as the beautiful Mohinī-mūrti to satisfy the desire of Lord Śiva. Whether He decides to lie down like a python as Ṛṣabhadeva, go with Arjuna to see Mahā-Viṣṇu, or depart after hearing King Pṛthu's prayers, the Lord's independent choices form the perfect, absolute narrative of the spiritual and material worlds.
- The Supreme Authority: Man proposes, but God disposes. The ultimate decision in all circumstances—including the destination of the defiant demons and the outcome of great battles—rests solely with the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
- The Law Book of God: In times of conflict and confusion, the final decision is given by God through His authorized scripture, the Bhagavad-gītā, which acts as the supreme law book.
- The Infallible Will (Dṛḍha-vrata): Whatever the Supreme Lord decides is perfectly correct and absolutely unstoppable. This firm determination is a primary characteristic of the Lord and His empowered incarnations, like King Pṛthu.
- Deciding to Descend: Out of His causeless mercy, the Lord decides to personally exhibit religious principles. He decided to appear as Lord Caitanya to shift the focus from awe and reverence to spontaneous loving dealings.
- Responding to the Devotees: The Lord's decisions are intimately tied to the love of His devotees. He decides to act specifically to protect His servants, satisfy their transcendental desires, or visit them, as seen in Lord Jagannātha's decision to visit Vṛndāvana.
