In the Bhagavad-gītā, Kṛṣṇa explicitly states that He is situated in everyone's heart, directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine made of material energy. The material nature (prakṛti), often mistaken by atheists as a blind or automatic force, acts entirely under the Lord's superintendence (mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ sūyate sa-carācaram). The sun shines, the wind blows, and the planets orbit by His sanction. Even the most exalted demigods, such as Lord Brahmā and Lord Śiva, act purely under His direction.
