Category:God's Four-armed Form
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category focuses on the majesty and profound significance of the Supreme Lord's four-armed form, famously known as Lord Nārāyaṇa or Lord Viṣṇu. While modern pseudo-yogīs meditate on voidness, the Vedic literatures state unequivocally that the ultimate goal of authentic aṣṭāṅga-yoga is to meditate on the four-armed Viṣṇu-mūrti situated within the core of the heart. This form is the presiding Deity in the countless Vaikuṇṭha planets, where liberated souls achieve sārūpya-mukti, gaining spiritual bodies with the exact same four-armed features as the Lord. When the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, descends to the material world, He confirms His supreme divinity by initially appearing before His parents, Devakī and Vasudeva, in this magnificent four-armed form. However, despite the absolute equality and breathtaking opulence of the four-armed Nārāyaṇa, the pure devotees of Vṛndāvana, such as the gopīs, are not fully satisfied by it. They are exclusively attracted to the original, sweet, two-armed form of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. This demonstrates the ultimate supremacy of intimate, spontaneous devotion (mādhurya-rasa) over the worship of awe and reverence (aiśvarya-rasa).
- The Divine Appearance: To dispel any doubts about His divinity, Lord Kṛṣṇa did not take birth like an ordinary human. He first appeared before Vasudeva and Devakī in His fully decorated, four-armed Viṣṇu form, proving His absolute supremacy before transforming into a baby.
- The Object of True Yoga: The real purpose of the yoga system is not physical health or impersonal merging. Authentic meditation (dhyāna) means fixing the mind exclusively on the four-armed Viṣṇu form situated as the Paramātmā within the heart.
- Vaikuṇṭha and Liberation: In the spiritual sky, the Lord expands into innumerable four-armed forms to preside over the Vaikuṇṭha planets. Devotees who attain sārūpya-mukti are blessed with spiritual bodies that possess the same four-armed features as the Lord.
- The Supremacy of Kṛṣṇa's Two Arms: Although Kṛṣṇa and Nārāyaṇa are the exact same Supreme Person, Kṛṣṇa's original two-armed form holds the highest sweetness. The pure devotees of Vṛndāvana are so attached to this two-armed form that even the majestic four-armed form cannot fully satisfy their hearts.
