Theme Analysis
Śrīla Prabhupāda reveals the deep spiritual meaning of God's nectar. Historically, it refers to the literal nectar (amṛta) produced from the churning of the milk ocean, which the Lord, in His Mohinī-mūrti and Dhanvantari incarnations, masterfully distributed only to the demigods while cheating the envious demons. More profoundly, however, "God's nectar" refers to the supreme spiritual bliss found in the Lord's lotus feet, His lips, and especially the narrations of His transcendental pastimes (kṛṣṇa-kathā). While this message of Godhead tastes bitter to non-devotees suffering from the jaundice of material illusion, pure devotees constantly drink this nectar through their ears and eyes, their thirst for it ever-increasing and never fully satisfied.
- The Flow of Transcendental Messages: Hearing the pastimes and glories of the Supreme Lord is like drinking a constant, life-giving flow of nectar.
- The Satisfaction of the Pure Devotee: Once a devotee tastes the nectar of devotional service, their thirst for relishing the Lord's sweetness constantly increases without end.
- The Cure for Material Jaundice: To the materially diseased non-devotee, the nectar of Godhead seems bitter, but by continually hearing it, the soul is cured of all illusion.
- The Supreme Trick of Mohinī-mūrti: During the churning of the milk ocean, the Lord appeared as the enchanting Mohinī-mūrti to gracefully distribute the physical nectar only to the demigods, thereby cheating the demons.
