Theme Analysis

The category "God Completely" emphasizes the absolute independence, spiritual purity, and supreme competence of the Personality of Godhead. According to the teachings of the Bhaktivedanta purports, the Supreme Lord is completely aloof from the actions and reactions of the material world. Although He is the original cause of creation, the detailed management of the cosmos is conducted under the strict rules of the material energy, represented by Durgā. Therefore, the Lord remains completely detached and peaceful, existing entirely within His internal spiritual potency. He is completely devoid of material qualities and is never under the illusion of false identification.

Despite His complete detachment, the Lord is the absolute master of all energies—cit-sakti, maya-sakti, and tatastha-sakti. In His form as Maha-Visnu, His unlimited opulences are completely beyond material conception; He breathes out entire universes and remains completely competent to protect or destroy them as if they were mere playthings. Furthermore, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is completely free from mundane bodily conceptions, such as birth through biological reproduction. He is completely spiritual and transcendental to all speculative positions.

Yet, this complete independence does not make the Lord an impersonal void. The Vedic literature explains that God's absolute nature includes complete compassion and love for His devotees. Just as an empowered incarnation like Maharaja Prthu completely uprooted the miseries of his citizens, the Lord completely sanctifies the place and family of His appearance. Most wonderfully, although God is completely independent and no one can check His will, He voluntarily becomes subordinate to the love of His pure devotees, occasionally refusing to act without their permission, thereby demonstrating the ultimate, sweet perfection of His absolute personality.

  • Complete Independence: The Supreme Lord is absolute and completely independent of any other control, remaining completely aloof from material actions and reactions.
  • Complete Purity: God is completely spiritual, peaceful, and devoid of material qualities or false identification.
  • Complete Mastery: As the complete master of all potencies, the Lord is completely competent to create, maintain, or destroy the universes at will.
  • Complete Compassion: Despite His supreme independence, the Lord completely uproots the miseries of His devotees and lovingly subordinates Himself to their desires.
