Category:God Is Blissful
Theme Analysis
The Vedic literatures overwhelmingly confirm that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the ultimate reservoir of happiness. According to Śrīla Prabhupāda, God is uniquely described as sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha: possessing an eternal form completely full of knowledge and absolute bliss. Because the Lord is the supreme ātmārāma (one who is completely self-satisfied), His bliss is entirely independent of material circumstances. While the temporary body of the conditioned soul is constantly subjected to the threefold miseries of the material world, the Supreme Lord experiences absolutely no tinge of unhappiness. Material bodies are fleeting and full of ignorance, but God's body is purely spiritual, ever-youthful, and eternally blissful.
Mundane philosophers often foolishly imagine that the Absolute Truth is originally an impersonal void and only accepts a temporary, material body when appearing in this world. This Māyāvādī misconception is directly refuted by the fact that whenever the Lord descends in His various incarnations, He appears in His original, spiritual, and blissful form. There is no limit to the Lord's appearances, and every single incarnation is eternal, blissful, and full of knowledge. Furthermore, all of the Lord's activities and pastimes are composed of this exact same spiritual substance. Even the literary incarnation of God, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam compiled by Śrīla Vyāsadeva, is an all-blissful manifestation meant for the ultimate good of all people.
Because the living entities are minute parts and parcels of the Supreme Lord, they inherently possess the same spiritual qualities of eternity, knowledge, and bliss. Just as a gold particle is identical in quality to the gold mine, the soul's original constitutional nature is naturally blissful. The Lord actively desires for His parts and parcels to awaken this dormant nature and take part in His divine pastimes, such as the rāsa-līlā. By engaging in unalloyed devotional service out of transcendental love, the devotee easily reaches the ever-blissful kingdom of God, finding eternal relief from material suffering and participating fully in the supreme happiness of the Lord.
- The Form of Bliss: The Supreme Lord is sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha; His transcendental form is eternal, full of knowledge, and absolutely blissful.
- Immune to Misery: Unlike the conditioned souls who suffer the threefold miseries, the Supreme Lord is the perfect ātmārāma, entirely free from any tinge of unhappiness.
- Blissful Incarnations: Every incarnation of the Lord, as well as His pastimes and His literary representation (the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam), are completely spiritual and all-blissful.
- Sharing the Happiness: Because the living entities are part and parcel of God, their original nature is also blissful, which is fully realized by engaging in loving devotional service.
