Category:God Must
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute qualifications that define the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that to be accepted as the Supreme, God must be the Complete Whole, containing everything within and beyond our experience. Any incarnation of the Lord must be supported by the statements of the śāstra and must perform inconceivably wonderful activities to prove His supreme position. Mundane philosophers incorrectly dictate what God must do; the followers of karma-mīmāṁsā think God must automatically reward their fruitive activities like a servant, while Māyāvādīs think God must lose His original form when He expands into the cosmic manifestation. However, the Absolute Truth must be the Supreme Person, completely independent, and never subject to the laws of material nature. Finally, Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasizes that those who have faith in God must not sit idly, but must preach this science to counteract the rapid growth of a godless civilization.
- The Complete Whole: To be the supreme authority, God must be the complete reservoir of all energies, forms, names, and opulences.
- Authenticating Incarnations: A genuine incarnation of God must be verified by the Vedic śāstras and must display uncommonly wonderful magic, completely separate from cheap mundane jugglery.
- Refuting Mundane Logic: God is not obligated to act as a servant who must reward our karma, nor must He accept a material body when He descends. He is always the supreme controller.
- The Duty of Believers: In an increasingly godless society, devotees of the Supreme Lord must actively preach the science of God and must not remain silent.
