Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes the absolute infallibility of the Supreme Personality of Godhead by highlighting what He never does. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that unlike the conditioned souls, the Supreme Lord never accepts a material body, never deteriorates, and never falls under the control of the material modes of nature. Although He is the supreme controller, He never interferes with the minute free will of the living entities, nor does He create their karmic reactions. A true incarnation of God never proudly declares Himself to be God, nor does He perform cheap magic; His identity is confirmed by the scriptures. Most importantly, the Lord never forgets the service of His pure devotees, nor does He ever break His promises to them. Conversely, the Lord never tolerates any offense committed against His unalloyed servants, and He never reveals Himself to those who are falsely proud of their mundane academic knowledge or who rely on mental speculation.

  • Never Materially Conditioned: The Supreme Lord never accepts a material body, never ages beyond youth, and never falls under the control of maya. He is eternally situated in pure transcendental goodness.
  • Never Forgets His Devotees: Even if a devotee falls into difficulty or forgets the Lord, the Lord never forgets them. He constantly resides in the heart as the Supersoul, waiting for the soul to turn to Him.
  • Never Tolerates Offenses: While a sadhu may tolerate personal insults, the Supreme Lord never forgives or tolerates anyone who offends or blasphemes His pure devotees.
  • Never Declares Himself: A genuine incarnation of God, particularly Lord Caitanya in Kali-yuga, never boasts or falsely declares Himself to be God. His identity is proven by sastric symptoms.
  • Never Creates Karma: The Lord allows the living entities to fulfill their desires, but He never forces them to act, nor is He responsible for the karmic reactions they suffer.
