Category:God Went
Theme Analysis
The philosophical essence of this category focuses on the transcendental travels and destinations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, highlighted by where He "went." Unlike the conditioned souls who travel under the coercion of material nature or the pursuit of sense gratification, when the Supreme Lord goes somewhere, it is always out of causeless mercy to execute a divine mission or to exchange love with His devotees. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that Lord Kṛṣṇa went to Mathurā to kill Kaṁsa, Lord Rāmacandra went to the forest to uphold His father's word, and Lord Vāmanadeva went to Bali Mahārāja to beg three steps of land. Furthermore, as Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the Lord traveled extensively throughout India, visiting holy places like Vṛndāvana, Jagannātha Purī, and numerous temples. Through His travels, the Lord purifies the holy places, teaches the process of pilgrimage, and delivers the fallen conditioned souls simply by allowing them to see Him.
- Divine Missions: The Lord's travels are purposefully designed to execute His will, such as when Lord Kṛṣṇa went to Mathurā to eliminate the demonic King Kaṁsa and protect His parents.
- Expanding for the Devotees: To satisfy the pure love of multiple devotees simultaneously, the Lord can expand Himself, such as when Kṛṣṇa went to the houses of both Śrutadeva and King Bahulāśva at the same time.
- Setting the Example: As Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the Lord went on extensive pilgrimages, taking baths in sacred rivers like the Ganges and Yamunā, to teach humanity the proper etiquette of visiting holy places.
- Purifying the Populace: Wherever the Lord went, massive crowds gathered. Simply by arriving at a destination and allowing the people to see His transcendental form, He distributed the supreme benediction of love of God.
