Theme Analysis
Material scientists and mundane philosophers often mistake the operations of the cosmos for blind, automatic processes. However, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that material nature is simply a massive machine working under the direct supervision of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Behind the intricate jugglery of all natural laws is the supreme intelligence of Lord Kṛṣṇa, who acts as the ultimate mechanical engineer of the cosmic powerhouse. Because these laws are enacted under His direction, they execute perfectly and without deviation, orchestrating creation, maintenance, and annihilation across the entire universe.
Within the material world, the baseline natural law for physical survival is jīvo jīvasya jīvanam—one living entity is the food for another. While animals and uncivilized humans are tightly bound by this brutal system of exploitation, civilized human beings are meant to follow a higher spiritual standard. Instead of extravagantly committing violence or slaughtering innocent animals like cows, a civilized person follows the law of īśāvāsyam, accepting only the harmless quota of food allotted by the Lord, such as milk, grains, and fruits.
Those who ignore these spiritual injunctions and attempt to exploit the earth become hopelessly entangled by the strict laws of karma. When the world becomes overburdened by sinful, exploitative activities, nature automatically enacts its balancing laws through wars, famines, and pestilence. No amount of political power, scientific advancement, or worldly prestige can save a foolish leader from the inevitable natural laws of death and transmigration. Ultimately, the only way to transcend the punishing dictates of material nature and achieve eternal freedom is to surrender to Lord Kṛṣṇa through the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
- Divine Supervision: The laws of nature are not blind or automatic; they operate strictly under the direction and supervision of the Supreme Lord.
- The Law of Exploitation: In the animal kingdom, the law is jīvo jīvasya jīvanam, but civilized humans are meant to minimize violence and live on God's allotted quota.
- The Reaction of Nature: When humanity overburdens the earth with sin and exploitation, natural law inevitably reacts with devastation, war, and famine.
- The Inevitability of Death: No material power or political position can grant immunity from the natural laws of death and karma; freedom is only found in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

- Behind all the jugglery of the natural laws is a great living being, who is a person like the mechanical engineer in the powerhouse. It is by His intelligence that the entire cosmic creation moves in a systematic way
- By nature we try to protect the body. This is self-preservation. It is a natural law of the living entity, just as eating is a natural law and sleeping is a natural law. Why do I protect the body? Because within the body is the soul
- By the law of the Supreme Lord, all living beings, in whatever shape they may be, are the sons of the Lord, and no one has any right to kill another animal, unless it is so ordered by the codes of natural law

- Even in the animal kingdom there are different kinds of animals, they do not touch meat-eating even. They do not touch. Every . . . every animal has to live by destroying or killing another animal. That is nature's law. Jivo jivasya jivanam
- Exploitation of the weaker living being by the stronger is the natural law of existence; there is always an attempt to devour the weak in different kingdoms of living beings

- In this life you are prime minister, and next life, you are preparing to become a dog, so what is the use of becoming prime minister? You could not save yourself. Nature's law will go on
- It is foolish also to think that natural laws are ultimately powerful. Material nature's law works under the direction of the Lord, as confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita. The Lord says there that natural laws work under His supervision
- It is only under the superintendence of God that all the natural laws are conducted
T
- The natural law is that the human being may take advantage of these godly gifts by nature and satisfactorily flourish on them without being captivated by the exploitative motive of lording it over material nature
- The natural laws are being conducted under His (the Supreme Lord) superintendence. Because He is in the background, everything is being performed punctually and regularly
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, says in Bhagavad-gita that the natural laws being enacted are correct in all activities because of His superintendence
- To stop death, to stop birth, is not possible unless one comes to Krsna consciousness. Unless one does not come to the position of loving Krsna, there's no question of freedom. That is the nature's law. We have forgotten Krsna

- We are eating every, anything. Any moving animals we can eat - bird, beast, goats, cows, horse, ass, whatever is available. - Yes, you can eat. But that is the natural law for the animals and uncivilized man, not for the civilized man
- We have to commit violence; that is a natural law. We should not, however, commit violence extravagantly, but only as much as ordered by the Lord
