Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category establishes that the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the ultimate container and source of all existence. Because He is the complete whole, nothing can exist independently of Him. The Vedic literatures explain that the entire cosmic manifestation, along with all the innumerable universes and living entities, rests within His transcendental body. During the period of cosmic dissolution, everything merges back within Him, and during creation, it all emanates outward by His inconceivable breathing. Furthermore, because God is the supreme source, both the material and spiritual energies, as well as all qualities, desires, and attributes found in the creation, originally exist in their pure, uncontaminated forms within Him.

  • The Ultimate Resting Place: The Supreme Lord is the supreme container. Like a spider expanding and withdrawing its web, the Lord expands the cosmic manifestation and eventually winds all universes and living entities back within Himself during annihilation.
  • The Container of All Energies: Although the Lord is completely spiritual, both the superior spiritual energy and the inferior material energy exist within Him. He is the supreme controller of all multifarious potencies.
  • Simultaneously Localized and All-Pervading: By His inconceivable power, the Supreme Person remains fully situated in His own spiritual abode while simultaneously holding the entire creation within Himself and pervading it through His energies.
  • The Origin of All Attributes: Because the Absolute Truth is the source of everything, all realities—from the impersonal Brahman effulgence to specific sentiments like the fighting spirit or romantic desire—have their original, spiritual existence within Him.
