Theme Analysis

Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that being absorbed in Kṛṣṇa is the highest stage of yoga and the perfection of human consciousness. This absorption is not a passive or mental state but a practical science involving the engagement of the mind, senses, and activities in the service of the Lord. When the mind is fixed on Kṛṣṇa’s form, pastimes, and qualities—especially through the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra—one immediately attains the position of a first-class yogī. Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasizes that this state of samādhi is available even while performing worldly duties, such as talking, painting, or working, provided the attention is focused on the Supreme. Such absorption purifies the heart of material attachment, fear, and anger, and protects the devotee from being carried by the mind to another material body. Ultimately, those who are fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa at the time of death are guaranteed a transfer to the spiritual sky, returning to their original home in Kṛṣṇaloka.

  • The Highest Yogī: One who is always absorbed in thought of Kṛṣṇa within the heart is considered greater than all other types of yogīs.
  • Practical Samādhi: Engaging the mind, hands, and tongue in Kṛṣṇa’s service constitutes the first-class samādhi and the perfection of yoga.
  • Immediate Remembrance: Chanting the holy name is the most effective method to instantly absorb the mind in Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental form and pastimes.
  • Spiritual Transfer: Complete absorption in the Lord ensures that the soul transcends the material body and attains a spiritual form in the next life.
  • The Goal of Gita: Kṛṣṇa’s central instruction in the Bhagavad-gītā is to remain always absorbed in Him through worship, homage, and constant thought.
