Category:Without Fear

Theme Analysis

The philosophical essence of this category explores the transcendental state of fearlessness (abhayam) achieved through pure devotional service. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the material world is inherently a place of anxiety and danger, where every living entity is constantly fearful. However, when a sincere soul takes complete shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, they become akuto-bhaya, or completely free from fear. Whether navigating the jungles of material existence as a renounced sannyāsī, confronting envious persons, or facing the moment of death, a pure devotee remains perfectly peaceful. This fearless state is the natural result of realizing that Kṛṣṇa is the supreme maintainer and ultimate protector of all surrendered souls.

  • The Anxieties of Material Life: Eating, sleeping, mating, and defending are the basic bodily activities, and defending is intrinsically based on fear. As long as one identifies with the material body, they must experience anxiety and fear of the unknown.
  • The Absolute Protection of the Lord: A pure devotee is convinced that Kṛṣṇa is always accompanying them and supplying all their necessities. With this firm faith in the Lord's protection, a devotee can execute their duties anywhere in the world without fear.
  • The Renounced Order: A genuine sannyāsī travels extensively to preach the message of Godhead, taking immense risks. Equipped with transcendental knowledge and detachment, they navigate through all material dangers without fear of being captivated by illusion.
  • The Eternal Fearless Realm: By steadily practicing devotional service, one becomes eligible to enter Vaikuṇṭha, the spiritual sky. In that liberated state, there is an unlimited flow of everlasting happiness, completely without fear of birth, death, old age, or disease.
